How to reset the "Faulty Indicator" warning on the dashboard?

The weekend I towed a trailer. Since then, when the trailer is unhooked, the indicators flashes quickly and the alert "Faulty Indicator" is displayed. Hook the trailer back and the message disappear and the flashing returns to normal. Unhook the trailer again and again the indicators flashes quickly and display "Faulty Indicator"
My Car is a Citroen C3 2009 with a Citroen fitted tow bar.
Any Ideas?

The current sensor that senses when a bulb has burned out has either been damaged by the extra current drawn by the trailer lights or has "learned" that the extra current is normal and thinks that the lower current with the trailer unhooked is abnormal. I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes to try to reset the system and if that doesn't work you may have to replace the module containing the current sensor.

Once you fix it get a trailer light isolator box that has its own fused power wire from the battery. These boxes contain circuits (mainly FETs) that take the trailer light load off of the tow vehicle's tail light wiring.

I have personally used the one listed below and it worked very well.
