i don't know about you, but here (Malaysia) our Citroen zx do that because of overheating or just by the bother line.
if travelling for long distances in our weather here, the temp rises and it the engine would not or will have trouble starting.
i think it is the fuel system or evaporation of the fuel in the fuel injector itself.

could be fuel evaporation if petrol, if its the old 1360 unit it may be the fuel shut off on the side of the carb, give it a tap. It may be battery, could do with a few more details. Best of look, keep my eye open if you post again.

probably running rich, can you smell petrol? Try flooring the accelerator as you turn the engine over.

MAYBE YOUR LEAVING IT TOO LONG BEFORE YOU TURN IGNITION AND YOUR MOBILIZER IS KICKING IN
OR ALTERNATIVLY COULD BE THAT YOU NEED A NEW STARTER MOTOR

You should chastise it. Threaten it with being sold.
