Find an independent Citroen specialist: There are plenty about & they're usually both better & cheaper than a main dealer.

Don't worry about the cost & complexity of the Citroen suspension, it's been used for decades & is generally very reliable & parts are cheap.

I am only the long suffering wife of a C5 owner, so I hope that I am some help to you..

Do you have a diesel or petrol engine? Diesels take a lot of power from the battery to get the glow

plugs warmed up!

Have you checked your battery? Possible cause of "electrical faults". Try disconnecting and then reconnecting. I wouldn't advise keeping the battery disconnected for more than 10 seconds... hopefully this should reset the ECU..

If this hasn't sorted your suspension problem, I would suggest getting your balls and rams checked..You may have the original suspension spheres fitted to the car, which have a membrane separating the gas from the fluid. If the membrane has split, new balls please. If the membrane hasn't you can get them re-gassed at the dealer or local SPECIALIST garage. The Hydraulic rams don't usually cause problems, but if any rubber covers or seals split through age or wear and tear, you lose any lubricating fluid and possibly risk foreign material to enter and score the inside of the ram..

By the way, C5's DO NOT use LHM fluid, they use LDS which is lot more expensive and watery !!!!

Your C5, like all oily Cits needs to have the fluid changed every 3 years and the filters in the reservoir

rinsed in petrol.

Low fluid levels will cause intermittent operation of the warning lamp of death.

If you check your handbook it will explain how to check this. It's quite simple but use only the type of

LHM recommended for top up. DO NOT USE BRAKE FLUID. If you acquaint yourself with the system you will find it's not that complex and if serviced regularly, will give little trouble.

The Citroen car club website has experts to help you at any time.

I doubt a normal garage would know where to start with this system and from my knowledge of the forums the dealerships are not much better.

If it's not under warranty then a second mortgage and a good supply of valium will help.

My only advise would be to disconnect the battery and try to reboot the system.

It depends on what lies beyond that mountain. Every step will lead you beyond that mountain, but then it all must not go in vain. Its not always that the toughest of challenges gives you the best of results. You have to know what lies behind that mountain, and only climb if its worth it. PS: Not always should you climb the mountains; sometimes its good to use the valleys.
